Workshop on the Safety of Small Modular, Advanced and Fusion Reactors

INTRODUCTION & OBJECTIVE

The EU-funded ECC-SMART project is addressing this challenge by assessing the feasibility of a small modular reactor cooled by supercritical water and identifying its passive safety features. The project encompasses the design and pre-licensing requirements as well as a roadmap for demonstration of safety.

The safety and licensing aspects of the advanced nuclear reactors and facilities are crucial for reliable, safe and competitive construction and operation of future nuclearfacilities.

The main aims of the workshop:

  1. discuss the opportunities and challenges in researching and developing the technical approaches, methods and criteria for the development of safety cases of future nuclear facilities, which form the basisforthe licensing process.
  2. bring together the European and international experts and young and promising students to increase the awareness on the on-going efforts to develop strong safety cases for small modular, advanced and fusion reactors, and improve the knowledge base.

WHO CAN APPLY?

R1 – First Stage Researcher (Up to the point of PhD) – Individuals doing research under supervision in industry, research institutes or universities. It includes doctoral candidates.

R2 – Recognised Researcher (PhD holders or equivalent, not yet fully independent) – PhD holders who have not yet established a significant level of independence and researchers with an equivalent level of experience and competence.

The PhD students/postdocs/trainees will be declared by the affidavit of every person considered as PhD student/postdoc/trainee.

WHAT IS FUNDED?

  • Lump sum for 2 days = 200 €
  • Lump sum for travelling = 500 €

  1. Fill in the Application form with demonstrating your affiliation, level of studies, supervisor from the ECCSMART project consortium, etc.)
  2. Send us your CV and a short motivation letter stating why we should support you, how it is beneficial for your career development.
